Alternative Examination for Determining Competency
Approved by Tres Rios Presbytery

Alternative
Examination Procedures for Tres Rios Presbytery:
In the event
that a candidate of Tres Rios Presbytery has failed on two
attempts to receive a satisfactory grade in an ordination exam,
the following process and alternative means of assessing
competency in a specific area of difficulty shall be followed.
A
consultation between the candidate and the COPM will occur in
order to assess the area(s) of deficiency and to determine the
best course of action for each candidate with regard to the exam
process, remedial work or continuation of candidacy. This
consultation with the candidates institution of theological
education. COPM will monitor the candidate’s progress in
implementing the remedial plan.
COPM shall
meet for a final assessment consultation with the candidate as
directed by the Book of Order, G-14310, if the examination is
satisfactory. When the remedial process has been completed to
the satisfaction of COPM, COPM will recommend a waiver at the
next presbytery meeting, including a summary of the remedial
process and a rationale for the waiver recommendation.
This policy
is being recommended to the presbytery in fulfillment of
G.14.031b, which requires that presbytery approve a policy and
submit the policy to Synod.

MOVED, SECONDED AND CARRIED that the Recommendation be approved.
