Report to Synod of the Sun -

The Presbyterian SUN:
The communications division decided to cancel the December
2006 issue in order to gear up for the launch of a new
printing schedule in January. The SUN will continue
to be published 6 times per year (Jan. March, May, July,
Sept., Nov.) in 2007. Advertising and publishing rates will
be increased to reflect changing costs. There has not been a
rate increase for several years.
2007 Budget:
1.
Communications Division will seek partners in funding
future issues of The SUN, which touches 87,000
Presbyterian households and offices.
2.
Sent a resolution regarding budget intrepretation
and presentation to the Executive Committee and the
Operations Division.
Two guests shared experience and hope as Presbyterian
communicators:
Rob Allen, Director of Communications, Grace
Presbytery.
He shared his work including Grace Presbytery website
development and upkeep, resourcing presbytery meetings and
visual presentations for such, as well as booklets for
presbytery meetings. Rob also shared his greatest
challenge, which is maintaining his spirituality along with
the work.
Jack Haberer, Editor of the Presbyterian
Outlook.
Shared his journey to accepting the call to the Outlook.
Answered a variety of questions relating to reliable
communications in the PC(USA).
Presbyterian Communicators Network Regional Conference
Sept. 22-24 at the Presbyterian Mission Center in Irving,
Texas
Synod of the Sun and Grace Presbytery will host a
South-by-Southwest regional conference of the Presbyterian
Communicators Network. Planning team members represent
several presbyteries.
