2. Open with worship and
prayer: “What jumps out at you” from African Bible Study on
1 Peter 3-4? -- gentleness,
suffering for good, be ready to make an accounting of the faith
-- share the message of Jesus Christ.
“What is the Spirit saying
to the church in these words?” There is hope – second chance for
Synod; vivid suffering of Christ makes it clear that God is with
us in these difficult times; God is offering us a chance for new
life and new hope through these difficult times; “who will harm
you?” -- it’s okay to reach out and risk in the midst of change,
we may go through many restructurings and even so God is still
in the midst and is our source of comfort, hope and confidence;
suffering happens both when doing correct and incorrect,
suffering while doing good transforms the suffering; now is the
time for gentleness in our work as a Synod.
3. Introduction to the Work
of division -- we are concerned with supporting Presbyteries as
they do their mission and ministry.
4. a. APPOINTED Shelby
